PS5 · PC · Switch 2 · not Xbox
Where The Midnight Walk runs
Four storefronts sell it. Two of them can do VR. One of them is a handheld. Several very reasonable guesses — Xbox, PS4, the original Switch, Game Pass — are wrong.
Source notes
The platform list follows Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Nintendo, and the publisher’s Switch 2 announcement. The absence of an Xbox, PS4, original Switch, or native Quest listing is dated, not a prediction about future ports.
The versions that exist
PS5 launched 8 May 2025, digital and physical, with PS VR2 optional. PC launched the same day on Steam and is also sold on GOG, flat and with PC VR (Index, Quest via Link, Rift S, Rift on the Steam minimum note). Switch 2 launched 26 March 2026, digital on the eShop and later as a Super Rare Games cartridge. Standard price on the digital stores I checked was $29.99. Launch price was $39.99.
VR is a mode, not a requirement. The short version is on is it VR only. Switch 2 has no VR at all.
- PS5 — $29.99 standard; PS Plus Extra/Premium catalog in October 2026.
- Steam and GOG — $29.99 standard; GOG was on sale in the 22 Oct snapshot.
- Switch 2 — $29.99 standard, 14.7 GB on the Nintendo page, no headset.
The versions that do not exist
There is no Xbox version, no PS4 version, no Switch 1 version, and no Game Pass listing in the sources I checked. A Quest store app was not listed either. Quest 3 can only reach the PC build by streaming or Link, which is not the same as a native Quest release.
If a page tells you otherwise, it is talking about a different midnight, or it is out of date. This matrix is dated 22 October 2026. Recheck the store before you buy a console for it.
How I would pick
Want trophies or PS VR2: PS5. Want a commute: Switch 2. Want mods, Deck, or a sale on GOG: PC. The head-to-head is Switch 2 vs PS5. Physical boxes are a separate, limited story on the physical page.
Buying links live on the download page, not here. This page only answers “can my machine run it.”
