Privacy policy
Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra load on the first page view, without waiting for a click. The banner tells you and offers Reject, which turns all three off and is remembered in localStorage for 180 days. YouTube loads only when you press play on a trailer.
Source notes
I checked this page against the scripts actually emitted in the built site. GA4 matches the Measurement ID configured in the site code; the Clarity project and Adsterra unit IDs match the saved integration references for this domain.
Who is responsible
The operator of midnightwalk.net is the controller for this site and for the choice stored by its banner. Contact: [email protected]. MoonHood and Fast Travel Games publish the game; they do not operate this domain and do not receive data from it.
Three vendors process data for this site: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (Google Analytics 4), Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft Clarity) and Adsterra (advertising). YouTube is Google. Each vendor is also a controller for the data it keeps under its own account and privacy policy.
Default load, and what Reject does
If your browser has no stored choice, the page treats you as accepting the default: Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and the two Adsterra units load on the first page view, and the banner appears as a notice with Accept and Reject. Nothing waits for an Accept click.
Reject writes mw_consent_v1 with choice: "denied", sends a denied Consent Mode update, and removes the Clarity and Adsterra loaders and their visible output. When that record is saved, the page reloads to stop already running vendor code and the refusal is applied before loaders on later page views for 180 days. If browser storage is blocked, the current page stops third-party loading without reloading and displays a notice that the choice could not be saved; it cannot persist across visits. Requests completed before Reject cannot be recalled. Accept writes the same key with choice: "granted" and loads them again. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner, so the choice can be changed at any time. Global Privacy Control is treated as Reject even on a first visit.
The site’s own scripts set no HTTP cookie. They use localStorage only: mw_consent_v1 (the choice and its timestamp, 180 days), mw_adbar_closed_v1 (set to 1 when you press Hide ad bar, kept until you clear site data or press Show ad bar), and mw_collectibles_v1 (the collectible tracker’s item IDs, kept in this browser until you uncheck them or clear site data). Tracker progress is a local convenience, not sent to a server by the tracker. Clearing site data for midnightwalk.net deletes these keys.
Default loading happens before affirmative consent. The initial banner is a notice with an opt-out; it is not evidence that you gave consent. Reject is applied before any of the three loaders is created on subsequent page views. Vendor privacy notices explain their processing; this page describes the behavior of this site.
Google Analytics 4 (G-41DNZBNS5K)
Requests go to www.googletagmanager.com for the loader and www.google-analytics.com (including its regional subdomains) for measurement. The page loads the gtag.js loader for measurement id G-41DNZBNS5K and configures that id (property website_116_gameinfo_midnightwalk.net, web stream https://midnightwalk.net). It counts page views and basic engagement. It loads by default; Reject stops further hits with ga-disable-G-41DNZBNS5K and a denied consent update.
First-party cookies on this site: _ga and _ga_<container>, with a two-year configured default that browsers may shorten, plus Google’s own identifiers where Google signals are enabled. GA4 event data is retained for up to 14 months, depending on the property’s data-retention setting; aggregated reports last longer. Opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Microsoft Clarity (project z1zl83gnyh)
Clarity uses www.clarity.ms for the project tag, scripts.clarity.ms for its runtime, and *.clarity.ms collection hosts such as h.clarity.ms and k.clarity.ms. Its Microsoft identity flow may also request c.bing.com. Microsoft Clarity project z1zl83gnyh collects pseudonymous session replays and heatmaps: clicks, scrolls, and page layout. Clarity applies its masking rules to sensitive content; masking is not a guarantee of anonymity. The tag is created by this site’s loader as https://www.clarity.ms/tag/z1zl83gnyh; it is not a <script src> in the served HTML. It loads by default and is removed, with a denied Clarity consent signal, after Reject.
First-party cookies: _clck (about one year) and _clsk (about one day), plus Microsoft cookies CLID, MR, MUID, ANONCHK and SM where Microsoft’s identity surface is used. Clarity retains recordings for about 30 days and aggregate metrics for longer, under Microsoft’s retention policy. Opt out at Microsoft’s privacy choices.
Adsterra advertising (publisher 3403020)
Adsterra is the only advertising network on this site. Publisher id 3403020, website id 6143414, with two units: Native Banner 31874592 (in-page, below the article) and Social Bar 31874593 (the floating bar at the bottom). Adult ads are switched off in the Adsterra panel. There is no Popunder, Banner or Smartlink unit. Both units load by default; Reject removes them and the floating bar.
The units are served from Adsterra’s delivery host bicea.org. Adsterra and its demand partners may set cookies and localStorage entries under that host to cap frequency, measure impressions and, where permitted, personalize ads. The names and lifetimes are issued by Adsterra and can change per campaign; this site does not set them itself. Adsterra keeps its data under its own privacy policy. Adsterra and its demand partners determine campaign delivery; this site has not independently verified personalization for every campaign.
Opt out of personalized advertising: Google Ads Settings, Digital Advertising Alliance, Your Online Choices (EDAA), or NAI. These are industry opt-outs; they do not stop contextual ads.
The site publishes ads.txt with the real seller line adsterra.com, 3403020, DIRECT. A wrong or invented seller id would be worse than none, so the value is copied from the Adsterra dashboard.
YouTube, only when you press play
Trailer buttons show an image hosted on this site. No YouTube iframe or script is present until you activate play. The iframe then loads from https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/, and Google may set YouTube cookies or local storage under its own policy; this site does not control those. Retention is Google’s. Legal basis: your click is the request to load that player. There is no other embedded player.
Your rights and changes
You can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of data this site holds about you by emailing [email protected]. There is no account system. Consent, the hidden-ad-bar preference, and checklist progress remain in your browser and can be deleted by clearing this site’s data. If you email us, the email provider processes your address and message so we can respond; do not send passwords or sensitive game-account information. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
The page is static: there is no server-side profile and no newsletter. This policy changes by editing this page and moving its updated date. Material changes to the vendors or the default-load rule will be reflected here before they ship.
Common questions
Do you load ads and analytics before I click Accept?
Yes. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra load on the first page view by default. The banner is a notice with Accept and Reject, not a gate. Reject turns the three off and is remembered for 180 days.
Which keys does the site store?
localStorage mw_consent_v1 (choice and timestamp, 180 days), mw_adbar_closed_v1 (the floating bar was hidden), and mw_collectibles_v1 (local checklist progress). The site’s own scripts set no HTTP cookie. GA4 and Clarity can set first-party cookies on this site; Microsoft and advertising partners can also use third-party cookies.
How do I turn ads off?
Press Reject on the banner, or open Cookie settings in the footer and press Reject. That writes mw_consent_v1 = denied, removes the Adsterra units and the Clarity tag, and stops GA4 hits on later pages. You can also use the industry opt-outs linked above for personalized ads elsewhere.
Does YouTube load on its own?
No. A trailer only loads youtube-nocookie.com after you press play on its button. No YouTube iframe is in the initial HTML.
