Chapter 6: Moon Mountain

The in-game name is The Tale of Moon Mountain. The soothsayers speak once more, the climb gets cold, and the sun statue asks for a choice this page will not pretend is canon.

Source notes

Moon Mountain contains the final choice and four collectibles. Both ending trophies can be obtained from the last checkpoint; neither option is labeled the canonical ending here.

The climb

After the final Soothsayers conversation, open the hidden compartment in the stone pillar immediately to their left for The Grinner figurine. This is the chapter entrance, not the summit pillar containing Potboy. Close your eyes as the three blue-eyed creatures approach. Before the first helicopter, check the right edge of the rocky path near the old ship mast for the first shellphone.

After the helicopter, two Grinners can also be dismissed by closing your eyes. In the wind, move between shelters when it eases and stay near Potboy. Relight him if needed. After the first ice path, enter the building and drop down: the second shellphone is to the right. Take the next helicopter and cross the remaining windy section.

Inside the moon, Potboy fails to light the sun statue. Housy comes back and helps. You try again. Then the game asks Burn or Stop. Burn is the Burn Out trophy. Stop is Fade Away. Resume from the last Moon Mountain checkpoint to see the other one. You do not need a second full playthrough.

Four collectibles

Two figurines and two shellphones; no discs or reels. After Potboy clears the fog and the screen fades white, inspect the left-side pillar along the summit path for Potboy. Spoilers for the final choice are on the endings page.

Common questions

Do you need a second playthrough for both endings?

No. Reload the last Moon Mountain checkpoint and pick the other option.

Which ending is canon?

The game and the trophy list do not say. IGN’s writer prefers Burn. Both trophies count.

Where is the Potboy figurine?

On the left stone pillar after the final climb. If every other figurine is in, Mad God unlocks there.
