Pad recommended · HDR absent

Controls and settings

Steam calls it gamepad recommended. You can still play on a keyboard. The setting people search for, HDR, is not a switch inside the game.

Source notes

These controls and options are compiled from published guides and PCGamingWiki. Where bindings disagree, the game’s on-screen prompt takes precedence. Community configuration edits are not official menu features.

Controller, as the guides write it

On a PlayStation layout, IGN and 100pguides use Cross for interact, Circle to crouch, Triangle for the inventory, and Square to tell Potboy where to stand or to send him through a pipe. Hold L1 to close your eyes. The Shadow Work achievement requires a minute in darkness. The matchlock’s exact button is not consistent across the notes I read, so I am not assigning it.

PCGamingWiki says controller buttons cannot be remapped. Sensitivity and Y-axis invert are recorded. DualSense is listed on the PlayStation store page. Steam Input can still sit between the pad and the game on PC.

Keyboard and mouse

Steam’s flags do not ban the keyboard, and they do mark the pad as preferred. PCGamingWiki says mouse and keyboard bindings can be remapped, mouse sensitivity exists, Y invert exists, and the menu can use the cursor. Native mouse acceleration is marked unsupported. You do not have to own a pad. A gamepad recommendation does not make keyboard and mouse unsupported.

Picture, HDR, and the logos

PCGamingWiki records windowed and borderless modes, a field-of-view slider, and frame caps including 30, 60, 120, and uncapped. The research snapshot records DLSS, FSR, and NIS, with a community note about DLSS and frame-generation behavior. Exact implementation versions and current behavior have not been independently retested, so no version number is asserted here. Ray tracing is marked unsupported. Native HDR is marked unsupported. Windows Auto HDR is outside the game. If the image goes grey, disable it and look again.

Vignette and blue fog, if you want them gone, are Engine.ini lines on PCGamingWiki: r.Tonemapper.Quality=0 and r.Fog=0 under the saved config path. Back the file up first. Skipping the opening logos means removing two movies after a backup. Those edits are community, not a studio menu. VR eye-close on PS VR2 is something Road to VR guessed might use eye tracking; they did not have official confirmation. On PC VR they closed their eyes by holding a trigger.

Common questions

Controller or keyboard?

Controller is the recommended way. Keyboard and mouse work on PC and can be remapped.

What does L1 do?

Guides say it closes your eyes. One IGN line also mentions sprint on L1. Trust the on-screen prompt when they conflict.

Where is the HDR setting?

There is no native HDR option in the notes. Auto HDR is a Windows feature, not a game menu.
